Ria: This is a bad idea.
Travis: You can go anywhere you like on base, you know. And it's not doing you any good hiding in your room all the time.
Ria: I don't like people staring at the freak.
Travis: No one's staring at you. I'm sorry there aren't any Sunlanders on base right now, but Kieselburg's a Yellow Band for them. They mostly opt for postings in Green or Red.
Ria: There are Sunlanders in the Blues?
Travis: Of course.
Ria: They work with -- with you people? Don't they have their own company or something?
Travis: Why would we do that? Look, the whole world is not like Kieselburg. There's a lot of opportunities open to you.
Ria: Opportunities.
Travis: Sure.
Ria: For a backwater teenager.
Travis: ... Kieselburg isn't that --
Ria: With no fancy schooling. With no experience. With a halfblood kid in tow.
Travis: ...yes!
Travis: Longer minute!
Travis: Uh -- give me a minute...
Ria: This stuff really don't pass through your brain before it hits your mouth, does it?

When last we saw... Ria - Travis

Yellow Band: the Imperial safety ratings system, indicating how generally bad conditions are for someone of a given gender, race, orienation, et cetera. IAF personell posting to areas that are not green is strictly opt-in, and the fanatics, as Travis indicates, tend to head for the worst areas.

Despite a long period of resistance, I've finally joined Facebook (it was for work purposes, okay?) and since I was on it anyway I went ahead and made a fan page for the comic. If enough people show interest in it I may even do stuff like post commentary or panel detail or other things that don't really seem to have a place on the main comic, so if that interests you, sign up. At the moment, though, I'm my only fan, so posting extras for me seems rather... sad.

Inland Territory
by Vienna Teng

Beautiful piano, bittersweet lyrics, and a voice so pure as to be almost painful. If you can't catch her in concert, do yourself a favor and get the CD.
