show/hide today's script
Io: I said, they're going underground.
Travis: I heard you.
Io: Half the Greenwharves have old drainage tunnels under them. I estimate probability of mission failure and of civilian casualties has gone up by --
Travis: Has Zeke called for help?
Io: The local still isn't responding to hails.
Travis: Then we wait.
Io: This is insane!
Travis: That's one possibility, yes.
Io: sir, are you really just going to sit there and let him --
Isidro: Acting Commander Neuman remains in charge, Analytics.
Io: ... I want to go on record as recommending we go in now.
Travis: Noted.
Io: In fact I would have recommended we go in when we realized the local was unreliable. Assuming you hired him in the first place. Assuming a delicate field operation was handed over to an inexperienced, naive, idiotic --
Travis: I'm sorry, is this all on the same record?
Isidro: That's Analytics for you. They want the poor sod dissecting their failures to have plenty to work with.

When last we saw... Io - Travis - Isidro

For those wondering about Io's mouth: the Imperial Forces are generally more tolerant of subordinates critiquing their command, though she's pushing it. She's also in an awkward situation. Ranks in the IAF go something like General Specialist (that would be Travis), then Area Specialists like Io, who is an Analytics Specialist, then Command. The IAF allows for 'Acting Command' when the commander present deems someone else has situation-specific knowledge, but for someone to jump straight from General to Command is not common. And can annoy the hell out of Area Specialists, who tend to harbor the private conviction that Command is out of its mind at the best of times.

Also, for those who missed it, an update went up on Saturday, finally compensating for that missed update a week or two ago....

Last: the Spiderforest collective is holding a Comic of the Week event for the next while, so expect me to be posting about that most Mondays. This week's comic is Scattered Leaves, a young comic we reeled in on the last membership. Scattered Leaves is still getting going, but it's a fantasy comic with an intriguing premise, a nicely different setting, and really lovely, flowing art. I encourage all of you to check it out.

Bone
Bone
by Jeff Smith
