XKris: I can't believe you wouldn't back me up!
Lena: I can't believe you got yourself thrown out of class.
Kris: You can't let them pick on you, Lena! They'll never respect you. They don't even see you. They just see a Lowtowner on their territory --
Lena: I don't care.
Kris: But you keep acting like it's you in the wrong. If you'd fight back, they'd learn --
Lena: Kris, I don't
care. I don't care if they like me. I don't care if they respect me. I don't care if they pick on me because they can't go below Memphis Street without getting rolled by the gangs. And I sure don't care enough to teach them
anything. I'm here to get a degree so I can get a real job, making real money, and make a real difference somewhere, so I won't be just a Lowtowner any more. If I fight back, I only make it more likely that I'll fail. So I'll keep my head down, I'll keep my mouth shut, and I'll win. I'll prove them wrong.
Kris: But that's no
fun.
Lena: Good to know you have my best interests at heart.
