Elroy: ... I can?
Murdoch: Takes a lot of people to run a starship, kid. Mechanics, stewards, fighters... those, you can be.
Elroy: But I wouldn't be flying.
Murdoch: No. So you got a choice to make. You can go after the low-end jobs, and probably get 'em if you work hard. And you'll see the stars. Or you can stay set on bein' a pilot. You'll probably fail, an' it'll break your heart -- but that kinda failing don't kill you, and hearts mend up better than you'd think.
Elroy: Oh. Okay....
Lena: Congratulations. You're not a complete waste of humanity, and I don't have to kill you.
Murdoch: Not dyin' is pretty much all I ask from a day.
