For those who are wondering about the 'Specialist' thing, it's the Imperial military rank. Travis and Inessa are both General Specialists Class Four, Grade Four, referred to simply as 'Specialist' or 'you, there'. Commander McMillian is a Command Specialist Class One, Grade Three. She is mostly safely referred to as 'yes, sir, Commander, sir.'
